Ruka had to admit, she had missed this place. A lot, but not as much as she missed a certain Princess who was apparently now acting Queen.

It had been quite a few years since Ruka had met the other girl while both were on their adventures, and much like Amelia Ruka had grown considerably as time passed. Her hair was longer, and her body had matured over time. She had always carried a torch for Amelia and had been grateful that the other girl was willing to wait for her.

Now hopefully, the time had come for things to escalate between them.

Of course, the matter of Amelia's interests in partners had never come up, even with the whole business of having an heir. As long as a baby came along, nothing else really mattered to the advisors, regardless of any relationship the Queen had with the one who helped make it. Needless to say, she doubted any remark on the fact she was still hoping a past companion might return to her would be listened to.

Yes, she had waited, but was still genuinely surprised at the sight that befell her when she entered the lounge. Even having clearly matured, there was no mistaking the person there.

"Ruka." she whispered, barely able to stop herself from acting undignifed while palace staff could still see her. She would have to wait until the door closed and the council member was out of earshot before opening up.

"My Queen~" Ruka bowed politely and waited until the door had closed, also allowing a few more seconds to pass before making her way toward Amelia and pulling her into a fierce embrace.

"It's been so long, Amelia...! I've missed you~"

Admittedly, she was still in shock as she was hugged by the other girl, taking a moment to register things before returning the embrace, holding the other girl close.

"I've missed you too Ruka." she smiled, petting her companion's hair gently.

"Hehe, you look wonderful Amelia. The years have been kind to you!" Ruka leaned into her partner's hand, leaning in a bit to kiss her gently.

"I could say the same about you." she replied, a little startled by the kiss, but soon tilting her head gently into the gesture, responding in kind. Eventually they did have to separate, but Amelia knew she would be restless until she found out how Ruka had come to be there. "So, any reason why you chose here and now to come in Seyruun?"

"Well..." Ruka leaned against Amelia gently, pressing her head on her shoulder while continuing. "I wanted to see you again because it had been so long since we'd team up on our adventures. I came to Seyruun because I wanted to tell you something really important. First...I'm really glad you waited for me, Amelia~"

While she did feel her heart flutter in her chest and endearing comment, there was also a pang of guilt within the young Queen. True, she hadn't done anything wrong, and the matter was a little out of her control, but she still felt bad that she would have to tell Ruka the unfortunate situation, sooner rather than later most likely.

"Alright, well I need to say something as well, but...you can go first if you like." she replied, still petting her partner's haid, trying to prevent her voice wavering as she gathered up the strength to let the other girl know that her faithfulness was due to be tested.

Ruka nodded, nuzzling against her partner's hand while letting out a sigh of contentment. "Well, I've finally finished at my school back home and...with my brother's agreement, not so much my parents since they don't know...I'm gonna start teaching here in Seyruun~!"

Nodding, Amelia smiled back, though the cracks were starting to show, her worried coming further to the forefront of her mind.

"So, you really will be staying here?" she asked, the melancholic tones starting to seep into her voice. She wanted to be happy about this, truly she did. However the underlying obstacle, and the fact she would have to tell Ruka of it, was enough to deter her joy over the situation.

"...Yeah. I've even got a room set up to adjoin with yours, so we'd only have a wall and a door separating us." Ruka's tone soon became one of worry, the girl catching Amelia's melancholic one a second or so later. "What's wrong, Amelia?"

Well, it was best to be honest and get it overwith. Hiding it would only worsen matters, and Amelia had no desire to deceiver her friend and companion. She just hoped this wouldn't have made the long wait they had both endured pointless.

"The council...they want me to produce an heir Ruka." she sighed heavily, grip loosing on the other girl in case she wanted to pull away, unsure of what reaction to expect.

In response to not only Amelia's announcement but her grip loosening, Ruka let out an excited squeal while hugging her companion tightly, kissing her face for a few moments before pulling back a bit.

"You're gonna have a baby? That's wonderful news, Amelia! I've always wanted to have a child one day..."

Huh, that wasn't what she expected. Yes, she had been unsure of how Ruka would take the news, but she never imagined she would take it this well!

"Well, I'll try to..." she mumured, looking a little concerned as she held the other girl by the shoulders. "You're really okay with this?"

"Yeah, I am..." Ruka wrapped her arms around Amelia's waist and held the other girl close while finishing her statement. "...because I want to spend the rest of my life with you."

"But it's all rather sudden. You're probably going to be on the receiving end of a lot of hassle from the advisors once I tell them about this development." she replied, not wanting to put pressure on the other girl just because of her position.
