(( no title wut ))

Rin says I'm SUPPOSED to be essaying about whether or not Tomo is a good person, and mean things she does vs. nice things she does in camp and how she comes across differently in the manga and the anime (a deliberate instigator vs. a victim of her personality) and how/why I draw from both and all of that good stuff.

BUUUUUUT that requires actual thought and not CRACK and I'm pretty cracked out right now. :( So that one will come next. Also I need to do that Greed one too. Just not now. Because of crack.

So instead have a not-essay paragraph-list-thing about what it means when Tomo touches people. 8D

Tomo HAS to express herself physically or she starts to go a little nuts. In canon, she touches people a lot--not CONSTANTLY but noticeably moreso than any other character. Touching of some kind is her way of dealing things; she deals with people's emo by flinging herself at them, she hangs all over Yomi when she's feeling whiny, she deals with anger by hitting people or otherwise grabbing them. When she's happy she suggests things like "LET'S GRAB CHIYO-CHAN AND THROW HER IN THE AIR! 8DDD" And she does it idly too, randomly putting her hands on people while she's talking to them or even talking to someone else.

If your character is talking to Tomo face-to-face and she likes them, you can assume that at SOME point during the conversation, she's done something to them. XD If it's something very noticeable I'll specify it, like when she goes for Ed's hair, but even if I don't say anything she's probably put a hand on your shoulder or tugged on your sleeve or ruffled your hair after about five comments or so, assuming she doesn't think your character would kill her for doing so. |D

Other than that, generally, everything Tomo does to someone has a different and fairly consistent meaning. This little guide-thingy applies only to things Tomo does spontaneously, not if it's been suggested to her by someone else (like she wasn't mad at Lee or Yukari when she hit them, she was just going with the situation).

Physical attack
Yomi is the only person in canon that Tomo physically attacks without reason (except for head-hitting, which is different!), and there's no one in camp that Tomo has a precisely Yomi-esque relationship with; it's the product of a lot of time and a lot of fighting/bonding. |D SO if Tomo actually attacks you--this includes slapping or punching or throwing herself at you, or scratching, etc.--she's very fucking pissed and can't deal with it anymore. She's so mad that she can't form words and needs to make you hurt. If you consistently dodge this, and feel absolutely free to, she'll have no outlet for her anger and will retain it until you interact next. Tomo's not good at dealing with things using words or thoughts. XD Part of why she hates Kyouya SO MUCH is that she's never been able to touch him, and she NEEDS to touch him in order to work out her rage. If she DOES manage to hit you, she'll calm down quickly and whatever you did to piss her off probably won't carry over.

Hitting in the head
Is done usually to make a point, or just as idle punctuation of what she's saying. It does hurt and she knows it, but it's not an unfriendly gesture. XD

Hair-pulling (HI RIN)
Deliberately irritating and attention-seeking, and also you have nice hair.

Head-patting
Is a pretty idle gesture that she does without thinking much of it. It's affectionate but not extremely so and sometimes it's a little condescending.

Hair-ruffling
Is more affectionate than head-patting and she's probably kind of into your hair. |D

Noogie . . . ing
Playful roughhousing! Is more affectionate than hair-ruffling, and she feels comfortable enough with you that she assumes you know this.

Hair-playing-with
As in combing through it or putting it into ponytails for extended periods as opposed to just ruffling it briefly. If she doesn't know you that well and asks you if she can, it just means you have nice hair. If she DOES know you well and DOESN'T bother asking, it's a very very affectionate "I want to feel good" gesture. . . . Also, it means you have nice hair. :(

This icon
XD Putting her hand on your head and then just leaving it there--not many people get this because it's very very affectionate and also means she's talking fairly seriously. She'll only do this to a couple of people.

Climbing onto your back
Is playful and affectionate, and she trusts you and feels very comfortable around you.

Clinging from behind
Is kind of like a happy hug, or else pleading.

Shoving
Is playful working out of aggression or frustration. Exactly what kind of frustration it is depends on who you are. |D

Tickling
If she initiates it, it's either asserting dominance or an excuse to touch someone that she really wants to touch. It's also a way of making someone smile when she has no idea what to say in a conversation and the other party seems to be depressed or pissy.

Biting
Biting is always a last resort; if Tomo bites you, it's because she's physically restraining herself from doing something a lot more inappropriate and needs to send that energy somewhere. Whatever it is probably also involved putting her mouth on you somehow. 8D

Putting her face in your hair
Is getting dangerously close to kissing you. TOMO HAS RESTRAINT THOUGH RLY.

Kissing
♥ Duh. Also she will only really do this to like two people ever. |D

Hugging face-to-face
ALMOST NEVER HAPPENS 8D If she actually initiates a hug while looking at you, then she's very serious and either giving comfort or seeking it. Tomo isn't comfortable with hugging people this way and has only done it in camp a few times. Usually if she wants to cling to you a little for the proximity or just to bug you, she'll do it from behind you.
