1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
Work a proper job. Get up before 6am on a regular basis. Move out of home. House-sit. Got a scooter.
2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't think I made any.. If I did, I can't remember them, so I suspect I failed at keeping them.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yep. My upstairs flatmates had a beautiful baby boy.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
What counts as close? A couple family friends who I was rather fond of. One rattled me a fair bit, as it was quite sudden and really rather awful.
5. What countries did you visit?
None. My holidays consisted of two weeks in Matamata, a couple weekends in Otaki, Labour Weekend in Wainui, and a weekend at Castlepoint.
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
Depends on which part of the year we're looking at. There were times when I wanted a social life, money, time, sleep and my own form of transport, but currently I've got those reasonably covered, which is nice. A good laptop? A plane?
7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Uhm... All of Walsh? Castlepoint? Wellyfest? Probably a few others scattered around the place too. That Mountain Goats concert.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Holding down a full-time job? Being completely self-sufficient for the best part of the year?
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not getting my America stuff sorted?
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Uhmmm... A fair few colds, cuts, scrapes and bruises, but nothing too serious. Only got put on proper medication once.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My scooter. She is rather pathetic and gutless, but I love her just the same. And she has saved me endless amounts of time and money.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Everyone's? Nobody's? I dunno?
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
See above. Maybe my own, at times.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent. Walsh. Food. Board. Transport ($50 a week at one stage. Thanks, Metlink.)
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Wellyfest. Castlepoint. Walsh. Mountain Goats concert. Dr Who.
16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
I haven't a clue. Maybe something by Frank Turner, The Mountain Goats, or Enda Kenny.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier, I think
b) thinner or fatter? About the same? Not really sure, as I don't really keep tabs on my weight.
c) richer or poorer? Richer.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Sleeping. Spending time with friends. Sending letters/emails and staying in touch.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Procrastinating.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
With my family, at family friend's, then with people over at ours. Bit of time with the boyfriend and flatmates, too.
21. Did you fall in love in 2010?
I do believe I was already in love when it started. But I stayed in love, so I guess that counts.
22. How many one-night stands?
Zero.
23. What was your favourite TV program?
Has to be Dr. Who. Although I haven't really watched much TV this year. Haven't lived with one since August.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't really do hating people. A few people irritated me, but everyone has their good points too.
25. What was the best book you read?
I can't actually think what I've read. We'll go with Wake of the Lorelei Lee, by L.a. Meyer. He even sent me an ARC himself. ^_^
26. What was your greatest musical discovery
Frank Turner, I think.
27. What did you want and get?
More freedom? A job? A scooter? I could pretty much afford to get myself whatever I wanted this year, which was quite nice.
28. What did you want and not get?
Decent bras. I swear it's impossible to find one in my size. Problem may have been solved yesterday. We shall see.
29. What was your favourite film of this year?
I'm not really sure. Toy Story? How To Tame Your Dragon? I'm trying to think what I've seen... I do like the good kid's movies, though.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was nineteen. Worked a ten hour day. Went home for dinner. Spent time with lovely boyfriend who got me cheesecake.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Sorting out my America stuff. Which is entirely my own fault, but still....
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
Clothes are good. They keep you from wandering around naked. Clean clothes are best.
I actually got myself two dresses this year! But mostly I lived in jeans, hoodies, jerseys, and cotton tops/t-shirts. Yay for a job without a dress code!
33. What kept you sane?
Friends, music, boyfriend, people. I missed having real people a lot of the time.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I don't really do celebrities. Matt Smith? Simply because he's the new Doctor, and thus must be awesome.
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
I'm not even sure what political issues there were flying about this year. They tend to repeat themselves a lot. I'm not really an active follower of political things as it is. Driving ages?
36. Who did you miss?
People. Real live human contact. Anastasia. My old BJB girls. My friends who I did not see nearly enough of.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
One? There are too many awesome people to chose.
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:
Umm... Spending time with people is important, even if you're not really doing anything. I seem to get rather depressive without human contact. Breaks from life are good. Procrastination bad (I already knew that). Doing things makes you feel like doing more things.
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
I can think of nothing. A whole year in one line of one song?
40. How did you spend New Year's Eve?
Camping with flatmates. At Huntleigh, in Crofton Downs, of all places. But it's not so much about where you are, as who you're with, and it was an excellent three nights.
