Well, I have a few friends that work at libraries, and I can tell you that without an MLS you're out of luck. There were massive budget cuts for Illinois libraries this year.
My new job in Northbrook may be doing some hiring. I can talk to the boss if you'd like. Decent hours, coworkers, and pay. Not a great deal in the way of benefits, but they do offer free Blue Cross HMO coverage.
