Shannon and I love the Shearwater band, saw them open for Xiu Xiu, they stole the show. Xiu Xiu promptly stole it back. I think I hit a lot of people at that show. I asked Jamie if really, absolutely, believed everything he sang. I asked him if he was into Current 93

So is this Shearwater record a big step forward? I think I saw them open for the Mountain Goats a few years ago and if I did, they fell into this long line of bands that open for the Mountain Goats where I assume that they will be really good because Darnielle likes them but then when push comes to shove I'm not that into it. But I don't remember a piano so maybe I just saw their name on other Mountain Goats shows that I didn't actually attend.

That's funny, though, because during my first month in NYC, I went to a Clinic headlining show because the Apples in Stereo were opening and I liked that "Walkin with Thee" song and the show was like ten blocks from my apartment. And the weird thing about that show is that the crowd was WAY more into Clinic, to the tune of jumping around and stuff, than I would've ever expected. Also, months later I bought a used copy of Walking with Thee: the album and never really cottoned to it
