First of all, the news of Heath Ledgers death. It’s such a shock. He was an amazing, fascinating man, with so much to offer. I’ll miss his presence in this world. <3

Secondly, Torchwood Day today! Here, let’s celebrate with spoilers.

Episodes 2 & 3 ... are rather similar to each other. Not in plot (though both use the team's cryogenic chamber) but in structure: both feature an ordinary person who is the key to something big and Torchwood (esp Gwen ep 2/Tosh ep 3) are particularly sympathetic and helpful to them. Both the ordinary people are brave and both, luckily, are played by capable guest actors who make you care about them. They are good stories, though perhaps a little too similar.

Ep 2 has a potentially recurring threat emerge. Most surprisingly, Ianto suddenly (to me, anyway, though I know others will disagree) gets bags of personality and everything he says is hilarious! If this is what they intended originally with this character, cool. Another Gwen/Jack scene, though to me it reads more friendly rather than shippy. Some very nasty violence.

Ep 3 reveals that Jack WASN'T the man featured in that story which was on the website last year about waking up every year. Big Jack/Ianto snoggage. Old Torchwood/slight X Files? reference.

No Rhys or Myfanwy yet.

Well, see above, but they're not as exciting as the first ep. Characters take second place to stories, but Ianto is funny, then has a touching scene with Jack; Tosh is yet again revealed as a sad sack who has no life outside work, gets her storyline, Owen is kind to her. That's about it.

After wrapping up something else, Jack asks Gwen if she's set a date for the wedding, she says she hasn't, he says she should go home now (to see Rhys, I guess) and as she leaves happily, there is what could be interpreted as a slightly rueful look from him, though I'd say it's just "ah, normal life".
Next ep, the plot involves someone going home. Ianto (possibly after hours) asks Jack if he'd go home if he could. Jack isn't sure where home would actually be for him now after everything that's happened in his life, but that's okay. He looks a little sad. Ianto impulsively plants a big kiss on him, to cheer him up. Looks like it works.

EEE. I’m thinking that this is the infamous trailer kiss. Ianto just goes in for the dive to cheer up his boyfriend, at the end of a long, stressful day. It’s like fanfic, people. I love this show. Not too happy over Gwen/Jack, but I’m not crushingly disappointed. I have no qualms with Gwen/Jack shippers. I just hate it when they wax lyrical about how Jack/Ianto shippers are so deluded and that Ianto’s a rebound thing because Jack can’t have Gwen. But at the end of the day, think what you like. It’s Ianto’s lips that are getting kissed.

And a lot of Torchwood fandomers are quite scary. Come on, look at me.

At least my gorgeous Ianto is getting some personality this series.

Also, Jack and Ianto in AfterElton’s Top Ten list of Gay/Bi Men, and Jack takes the top spot too. Yey! I knew our boys would get there one day. And no jokes about Jack being on top.
