I'm having the worst day ever and this doesn't really make it better.
I don't know what they're doing with Jack, I really don't. He's with Ianto, I guess? But he's desperately lonely? And possibly unrequitedly loves Gwen? I know I said earlier that I was gaining a sense of him in love with all of them, but there are just so MANY of the traditional TV tropes of something else that now I'm unsure again. I know how to read it when it's Tosh and Owen, so why aren't the same types of scene, or looks, or exchanges, supposed to mean the same thing when it's Jack and Gwen? I think I'm missing something. And it doesn't help that this season, everyone seems to have been fed retcon pills which have wiped out all memory that Gwen & Owen had an affair. It's magically not an issue, for anyone. It's like 1984: we have always been at war with Eastasia. Jack and Gwen have always had UST. We have always been allied with Eurasia. Gwen and Owen have only ever been friends and colleagues. Also, there's a particularly awkward transition for Toshiko between the previous episode and this one.

It's probably best to read the whole synopsis too. I can't say I'm surprised, but things certainly aren't going the way I thought they would. When Eve said in an interview that Jack/Gwen would be unrequited, I never imagined Jack to be the one having the unrequitedness. I thought Gwen would be jealous of him and Ianto. It just annoys me that he's treating Ianto so badly.
*sigh*
Stupid day.
