In case you were wondering, which you probably weren't, I've noticed exactly the same thing, though in my case I notice the affect on the productiveness and quality of things I write. Especially around the middle of the school year, I can go for weeks writing nothing or only things I immediately wish I hadn't wasted paper on, but the instant I can breath again,so to speak, I find inspiration again and am very prolific. The bad part,or another bad part, anyway, is that I don't even focus more on schoolwork when I do less of things I actually care about, I just do less of everything and feel miserable and overwhelmed.

Exactly! Productivity doesn't shift to school, it just generally decreases and productivity for personal happiness disappears altogether. I was so surprised when, the first Saturday night of break, I was suddenly able to play guitar in so many new and different ways for no good reason except that my mind was clear for the first time in months.

You're lucky. A lot of people tend to simply shut down, burn out, all that... you know, when the demands of school and work are lessened. My own private art form is squelched no matter what, I guess. I'm gonna go wallow in self-pity.
