If anybody who is a student at the University of Iowa is looking for the cushiest job ever, I can totally hook you up: the office I work in is looking to hire one or two more student employees. Also, it's really easy to work it in among classes, so don't worry about that.

The other DCS student employees who worked with me graduated this winter, so they're looking to fill the holes they left. I work at University Design and Construction Services. Basically, I file paperwork for the University's construction, renovation, and demolition projects, I scan blueprints, I run errands, and I do various office-related chores. It's a very laid back place. I have no scheduled hours; I just show up when I can (or want to) and do work that needs to be done. A lot of my time is spent pretty much by myself or with one or two other people in the archives building out in the parking lot, scanning or working with images on the computer. The two people I mostly work with are pretty cool too. I get paid $8 an hour. DCS is in the University Services Building, on Prentiss and Capitol streets (a map here). It's a pretty good job, at least for me.

Also: there's a Cambus route that runs from the Pentacrest to right in front of the building, so if you're lazy sometimes like me, that's nice.

Yeah, my contact info is on my various Facebook and LiveJournal and whatever else profiles, or you can leave comments here. If you're really interested, send a resumé to michael-nottingham@uiowa.edu and I'll definitely put in a good word for you. Better act quick, though, before he advertises the job and gets a lot of applicants.
