Nov 20, 2013 20:05

So, was talking to a foreign friend today and she asked me: "Hey, is it true that pretty much everything in Australia can kill you?". I was like: "Naaaaah, just..." before proceeding to list things ( Read more... )

I've always wanted to visit Australia (and New Zealand, if I'm "down there" anyway) but... *boggles* *hyperventilates* *panics* I think I'll stay in Europe. O_o

OTOH, you actually inspired some potential h/c fic with your list, so thank you for that! *g*

Yeah, sorry about that. For me, the above creatures are a little "Well that's nice, but hardly important." I run into the snakes and spiders occasionally (very, very occasionally) but as long as I don't go poking them with sharp pointy sticks then they leave me alone.

Besides, Koalas!! Soooo cute!! And me. Of course there's me too. If you come down, I can show you harbour bridges and shit!

Also -yay!! Fic!! *makes grabby hands*

Well, I wouldn't be running around poking anything with sharp poiny sticks, so... *still side-eyes wildlife*

But hey, koalas! And wombats! And kangaroos!!! :D :D :D (and you! *g*)

As for fic...it would very likely be for a different fandom though, sorry. :( (I kinda moved to White Collar in the last year. Shiny OT3, shiny bromance, and very shiny pretty boy!)

OK, I've wanted to visit Australia ever since we did an unit on it in shool when I was 12, but we did not cover the wildlife... I'm going to stay in Europe, where the dangerous things are plants, mushrooms and exposure in winter.

Your update made me think of an NCIS bunny : what if the team was in Australia and Tony encountered a snake/spider (much like he did with an iguana)? The rest of the team would not be so wuick to laugh then. Also, potential for hurt!Tony and pworried!Gibbs! If I can tempt you to write it...

You should still come! I'll protect you from the deadly, dangerous animals! ^^

Some interesting bunnies you have there *pets them*. I doubt I'm going to write anything because I haven't kept up with NCIS enough to be true to the characters. Still, your more than welcome to run with them!

Unfortunately, I'm not any kind of a writer :(

That's too bad you don't write in the NCIS fandom anymore, I really enjoyed your fic, but I'll keep my eye out for your next fic, just in case it's in a fandom I follow.

I think I would risk it for the Koalas!! and since I stay out of the ocean, am very cautious where I put my feet and paranoid about shaking out clothing,,, I hope I could survive the rest of the list.
BUT,,, have you ever seen a koala panic while being held? the person got scratched by those claws they hold onto the trees with.

Ive heard of that if the Koala is wild. Like all wild animals... not a good idea to pick them up. Otherwise, their very very docile. I've pet a Koala (they're surprisingly coarse) but I've never held one in my arms so I can't speak with absolute certainty. I have heard of people getting scratched but no more than you would get holding a cat.

My Mom read your list and agrees with me that you should submit this for publishing in a magazine or at least a newspaper!! It is That level of quality and very very humorous!! As Always you are an excellent writer!
and yes, I had to get stitches once because of a cat that did not want to be put in a carrier,,, ,,, not the one in the icon pic though

It seems silly to submit it to an Australian newspaper -this is stuff everyone in Australia already knows. Well, except maybe the cone snail. Even I made a 'WTF' face with that one!! Not really sure who be interested in this...

Loved your list (you have a great sense of humor - I was wincing at laughing at the same time!). I used to live in FL, another place that has quite a few deadly things - mostly, the people.
