well inspite of your silly mullet and paragraph that I definately did not read, I will say yes. But I wouldn't call playing videogames a waste of time. It is wasting time where as nothing is produced from it, but its like appreciating art, you don't call reading a book or going to an art exhibit wasting time.

I agree, but I have a tendency to geek out to the exclusion of all else (sunlight, food, etc) which I think is a little unhealthy. Nice icon, by the way.

thanks. I have also been known to geek out in such a way. Like missing several days of work to play the wind waker.

I definitely disappeared from civilization when I got my hands on that game. I loved how they brought back some of the oldschool Zelda music, and the graphics and gameplay were amazing. I just wish it had more dungeons...

Your lists of music, movies, books, and art were great, and I admittedly skimmed but didn't read your paragraph (sorry, I've been driving all day and couldn't care less). What you said in the "God, Jesus, Mary" question struck a chord with me, though, because it's the same thing that happened to me. Silly Episcopalians. Anyway, I thought that was neat.

Does my icon count as an "arty ugly camwhore picture"? Actually, I don't care, but if you say yes, I'll change my vote just to be a vindictive bitch. Barring that, though...

Yes.

Yeah, Episcopalians are silly like that. Maybe it's because they like to drink and care more about being decent people than proselytizing. And I like your icon. Pop art!=arty ugly camwhore.

I'll leave you with a joke:

"And Jesus said to the Episcopalians: 'Wherever two or three of you are gathered, so is a fifth.'"

I think that your username is great. I recently read The Crying of Lot 49 and have just started Gravity's Rainbow. Pynchon is witty.

Good luck with Gravity's Rainbow. I can assure you that it's unlike anything you have or ever will read. I read V. (along with Lot 49) before I started it and it was just so much more than I bargained for. But in that good way.

finally, someone who appreciates evelyn waugh.
and you make a good point about ellis.
i like that you have quality headphones - that's rare.
the way you wrote your paragraph reminds me of the tipping point, for some reason. did you read that?
at any rate, yes.

No, I haven't read it, but I'm always looking for things to read so I'll check it out. I actually wrote that paragraph for my sociology final last term. It's the end of a long paper in which I created a reasonable budget for Jamal and his family, and then systematically removed all the expenses. It's pretty devastating, and makes you think about how and why conditions in American cities got to the point where Jamal (and he's one of the "lucky" ones, since he has one of the few coveted jobs and doesn't live in public housing) can't even hope to own a home in his lifetime.

Great music, good movies, especially Dr. Strangelove... (though I will note that Best in Show is not the best of that "series." I would say the title belongs to either Waiting for Guffman or This is Spinal Tap.)

You seem intelligent and like you have discriminating taste.

yes

Well, it's not the "best" but it is my favorite. Guffman and Spinal Tap are great, but I'm partial to Best in Show because I have a terrier, and God loves a terrier.

Also, kudos for using the word "discriminating" correctly. I once wrote a paper about the degeneration of language using "discrimination" as my chief example, and exploring how it transformed from a signifier of culture to one of uncultured bias.
