Jon's undies. Sometimes he goes to kiss me, but instead sucks air in near my face. He calls it vaccuming. How he routinely points to the kitten, who is just sitting there, and asks me to look at how cute it is. How whenever something is exciting to him, he will run to tell me, even if he knows it isn't anything i have interest in. How he tells me I am beautiful at least three times a day. How he rolls over onto me all night.
I think I'd rather share a moment. It was fleeting and went virtually unnnoticed by me until one my friends pointed it out at the last instant. I was driving from the Mystery Spot up in the Santa Cruz mountains. It was about 7:00 in the summer, so getting close to sunset, but not quite there. The sky was wearing mostly shades of blue and orange. That's my favorite time of day, right before sunset, and I thin that, in itself, is beautiful. But, as we were driving along, I heard my friend Megan say, her voice full of awe, "Look at that!" and as I turned my head I caught a glimpse of these two people (two old women? Two young girls?) standing on this semi-circle of bright green grass and hundreds upon hundreds of leaves floating and cascading all around them. And the were big, too, like maple leaves, which aren't too common around here. It was very brief and I felt like I wanted to live inside that moment forever. But maybe it's brevity is part of its beauty

Something I've just recently rediscovered is cracks in polished surfaces. This sounds strange, but I've always enjoyed looking at deep-running cracks in things such as polished quartz, or ice. My favourite thing to do is to take an ice cube out of my freezer and press it to the back of my neck. It will make a popping noise and a crack will form in it, and I love seeing how each split forms differently. I don't know what it is about seeing a break caught within something that's otherwise clear and perfect that catches my attention, but I think it's beautiful.
I also think "The Hours" and "Waking Life" are beautiful films -- I could easily mute them, and just absorb their breathtaking appearances, or just keep the sound on, and appreciate the vision in what has been written and what is being performed.
