A couple of years ago I was reading an interview with Ian McKellan (Gandalf, Magneto) about the "best years of your life". He said that a lot of people think there is a gradual decline of good times as you get older. Yeah, it's all numbers and statistics. They're just putting it alongside how they determine the chances of car and plane wrecks. There's just too many different variables, like how people see things, pretty much like you were saying ( ... )

On the other hand, I was not an optimist, I was a realist. AND I was trying for a degree in biology while taking 3 inflected languages and one that wasn't in our language family. so I guess I brought that upon myself. BUT I can certainly say that things have gotten better since I skipped the state line. I for one look forward to much better days in the future. I figure that if I live to retirement I will have neglected to take some risk along the way. Then again I'm not planning on having a wife or kids so I don't have to take their feelings into account. When you're self-centered you can do things like that :-)
