when slash ruins things

Sep 24, 2011 16:36

Goddamn I've been reading slash for too long.

How does one write heterosexual couples again...??

Also in reality I'm not a fan of smoking and prefer people who smoke to do so elsewhere away from me.

However..... it appears I very much enjoy writing about people who smoke.

Heh heh. Oh dear.

*head in hands*

the dumb stuff i do

for me, i'm getting a kick out of writing (and therefore thinking about) the social side of smoking. how two complete strangers can have an instant connection just over this shared addiction they have, over the simple borrowing of a lighter, etc etc. plus yes, it does become kind of sexy when you describe it in words. even though the reality for me is anything but unless you are James McAvoy in the movie Atonement.

And I saw google today. and i played around a little with it. But i felt like I was missing something. Like they were sposed to do something BESIDE follow my mouse around the computer screen and I couldn't work out how or what. haha

Yeah, it can definitely be a weird bonding moment. It's sort of an "us against the rest of the world because we're huddling out here in the cold/rain/heat killing ourselves with an addiciton but at least we're doing it together even though we don't know each other" moment.

EGG ZACTLY!!!

And oh golly. That is literally the only time in a movie EVER that has made me think that smoking looked sexy. James just made it look so beautiful. But I also think it was a marriage of a couple of factors that did it. Like lighting, scene situation, character and of course James. But then yeah, in that very same movie whenever they would show Keira Knightly smoking I would just think it made her look cheap. And furthermore, I looked at the Fassbender one you directed me to.... yeah just doesn't do anything for me.

Nope its only James playing Robbie listening to opera and writing a naughty letter on his vintage typewriter that does it for me. ;)
