Do I even want to know what a 1933 book called The Love Rack is about? (Yes, yes, I do.)
Day 05 - A book or series you hate.
There aren't actually many books or series I outright hate - I mean, I'm never going to read Twilight, and I strenuously disapprove of anyone dating abusive vampire stalkers, but lots of people do like it, and who am I to deny them their sparkly vampire baseball? (Plus, the
recaps made me laugh like a drain.) I do hate Left Behind, though - its entire worldview is pernicious and evil, it makes money for people who stand for everything I hate, and it's really badly written. And the
recaps, while excellent, have much too high a rage-to-lols ratio to be a mitigating factor. Also, it makes me feel vaguely resentful that there isn't a series on the same premise written by someone reasonable, because I would read that like a shot, and all the people who used to get it out when I worked at the library need to be reading that instead. FLAMES. FLAMES ON THE SIDE OF MY FACE.
Day 06 - Favorite book of your favorite series OR your favorite book of all time.
Didn't we just do this? At least Desert Island Discs lets you pick five. But if I absolutely had to pick one book to read for the rest of my life, it would be Ovid's Metamorphoses. It's the only thing I can imagine not getting sick of. Preferably in an edition with translation, because if I'm on a desert island, I'm allowed to be lazy, and if I'm on an overloaded one-way spaceship (I read a book when I was a kid about the last spaceship off an evacuated Earth, and everyone could only take one book, and seriously, why would you let a kid read something like that? Ugh. Also, when they got there, everyone had to eat moths. It's a miracle I still read SF, really), I need to be able to reconstruct Latin. Priorities, I has them.
Whole meme.
