Doctor Who

Am I the only person on earth who didn't see River=Pond coming? Probably.

Also, I am getting a distinct whiff of Twilight from the revelation that the Doctor met River as a baby. Erk. Waiting For Her To Grow Up is one creepy trope that I feel I should be able to avoid by not reading Stephenie Meyer and being careful in my approaches to Golden Age SF. (ETA: Come to think of it, this was a very Golden Age-y episode. Gender essentialist claptrap -- which I hope Moffat is going to undermine -- and a space battle. Which is not the Doctor's usual sort of solution, or indeed a particularly good solution, as River points out.)

Other than that (...said the curate), I enjoyed it! I'm always happy to see the Clerics, no matter what side they're on, Rory the Centurion is totally badass, and I do like a good space battle.

But, Moffat, you get maybe one more Flesh psych-out before I get sick of people dissolving into puddles of PVA glue.

I'm not going to find a segue here, but this is really cool. Though my reaction probably shouldn't be I MUST GO THERE.
