So I'm three episodes out from the end of DS9, and the writers apparently felt compelled to take time out from the Dominion War (which is awesome; nothing on TV except maybe Fringe can beat DS9 at the long-form arc) to have an entire episode of O'Brien and Bashir talking about their feelings.1This is the writers giving a giant fuck-you to the

oh, final season DS9. so many feelings! (some bad - hate the way they played out the dukat arc. there are better ways to make him lose it!) also the season that made me like damar, previously dismissed by me as boring.

Also yes to to the Dukat arc hate. He was so awesome before! I just don't buy him getting religion - I suppose it fits with his grandiose ~saviour of the Bajoran people~ idea of himself, but it's just not him. :( (Neither is getting it on with Kai Winn. And I don't buy her suddenly NOT having sincere religion either.)
No one will ever convince me that Keiko and O'Brien don't have an amicable divorce shortly after the finale, following which O'Brien and Bashir will get married at the Alamo and Keiko will hook up with a hot Bajoran botanist.

awww, i would read that. except, i still pine for garak/bashir too. but there's no way i can imagine a three-way relationship, even a V - miles would never stand for it, and even if he was okay about it garak would torment miles at every opportunity. (i could go for keiko sharing miles with julian though - i mean, she's pretty much cool with doing that in canon after all.)
*actually, i have Many Issues with where DS9 took their religion stuff; kai winn had been an example of immovable but genuine belief gone wrong, but then the whole later arc undermined that. (i also hate hate hate them taking sisko off with the "gods" at the end.)

Garak seems really bitter specifically at Julian in the finale, not just bitter at the universe because of half of Cardassia getting destroyed. I think something happened there and we will Never Know. (I actually wouldn't be surprised if Andrew Robinson had decided something had happened and was acting it. He seemed to have a lot of personal fanon about Garak.) And yeah, Miles is an old-fashioned guy. No gay interspecies three-ways for him.
I actually didn't mind Sisko going off to be glowy. It built organically on his increasing belief in his Emissary stuff. And he's coming back! It's not like he's actually become a wormhole alien.

"I used to hate you."
"And now?"
"And now I...[dramatic pause]...don't hate you."
BAAAAABIES.
Even Keiko ships them. She's all, why yes, I have been away lo these many months but I can see you wish to go and play with your boyfriend best friend. Off you pop!

I just wish I knew the in-universe reason why Garak and Bashir broke up. ;_;
