LOL! We were out all day today, and on the way home were listening to Prairie Home Companion. The news from Lake Wobegon was as funny as usual, but it revolved around a phone conversation from a distraught 8th grade English teacher, who thought bar-dancing might be a more useful occupation than trying to teach hommonally-soaked teens the difference between "their", "there" and "they're".

That said, sometimes spellcheckers are *evol* (mis-spelling deliberate, dear). I once had one consistently change "tourney" to "journey"-- every time I corrected it!

(By the way, it wasn't LOLcats fic, was it? *grin*)

Middle school English teachers deserve medals, the lot of them. But egads! Spellcheck is still your friend! It does get tricky sometimes...mine gets angry whenever I write Sam's accent...but still! *flail*

The fic in question sounded like a really interesting premise, sans kitties. I was infinitely disappointed when I saw the really horrible grammar and spelling. :(

*shakes head* I've read some good LOLcats fic at Yuletide...

The year I decided to review every single story in the MEFAs, I discovered a good many that the only positive thing I could say was "Interesting premise".

Congratulations on your MEFA win for "The Quiet Hobbit"! *grins and looks smug*

Whoot! "Sparks of Hope" too!!! *grins more*

(I'm just catching up on my email tonight...)
