A fine, Spring day it was, when Meriadoc Brandybuck brought his young bride to Bag End. Talk was all over about their arrival, as the pair had forsaken Master Meriadoc's fine pony cart for the pony himself, and a little mare beside for Estella. There was much hand-waving (though no one took to fainting), as talk said Merry had considered a boat, but Estella chose the ponies instead.

Ponies were all but forgotten when they reached Bag End, for Estella handed Frodo down a tiny bundle with bright round eyes.

"Why, Merry," he said in awe. "He's you all over."

I will give you lots of hugs for this tomorrow! What time do you think you will make it? I can plan lunch for noon or a bit after, if you think you can get here by then!

Glad you like it! I had thought eleven or eleven thirty, if that's okay by you.

And don't forget, I'm bringing a dessert for you!

Writer's Block the_arc5 June 8 2010, 21:18:50 UTC
I threw down my pen in disgust. Before me lay volumes of material, in my hand and in his, more cases than I could do justice in a lifetime. Yet my page remained empty, marred only by blotchy spatters of ink and a mass of crossed-out words.

"Trouble, Watson?" Holmes asked from where he was lounging on the settee. I did not bother answering.

"I hear a certain creative stagnation is common amongst writers," he continued. "Perhaps..."

He did not finish, but reached for his Stradivarius. The notes soothed my spirit, and soon my pen joined time with his music.

Ten credits on Spock. Ten credits on McCoy. Fifteen credits on Spock and McCoy together, because the Captain was flirting with that Andorian, and did anybody see them share That Look? Ten more credits on McCoy. He was the favorite for now, but that incident planetside last week had given Spock an edge.

"We should not profit," Spock began for the hundredth time, but the captain and the doctor weren't listening.

"I'll kiss you tomorrow in sickbay," Jim decided. "And then you throw me out."

Bones agreed. Spock disapproved, but it wasn't their fault this crew couldn't count to three.

How about an Aragorn and Faramir friendship drabble?

I fear I'm too bogged down in WIPs to play.

Friendly Foes the_arc5 June 8 2010, 21:32:35 UTC
Aragorn swung his sword in a wide arc and sighed. There were advantages and disadvantages to being king. Mostly, the advantages outweighed the disadvantages, but some days, he missed his old Ranger anonymity. Even during his time with the Elves, he could find a sparring partner who wouldn't hold back.

Like a bolt of lightning, Faramir leaped down from a tree, sword flashing in the sun.

"Awake, my king!" he cried, laughing, and their steel clanged together. Aragorn felt himself smile as he met Faramir's heavy, well-placed blows.

His Steward was his friend, and knew what he needed before it was asked.

Uther Learns the Value of Knocking the_arc5 June 8 2010, 21:40:55 UTC
Uther was the King. Kings did not knock.

But with his son seated on the edge of his bed, the dark head of his servant between his thighs, exhalations and moans filling the room, Uther was reconsidering his knocking policies. Arthur's back faced the door, and he cried out. Uther fled the room before he could turn. In the hall, he said several very un-kingly things, though quietly, to his credit.

"Merlin!" Arthur howled, and Merlin unrepentantly pulled the bandage tighter.

"The sprain must be wrapped, sire."

"At least no one knows about this," Arthur sighed. "I'd never live it down."
