For the first time in a long time, Veronica Mars had woken up knowing she was happy. She was happy just to be alive. She was happy to see the sun shining. The things that plagued her yesterday seemed silly now -- she'd grown so focused on things she could not change, she'd become too serious.
She had found a dress in the clothes bin, all white lace and ruffles, and picked up a blanket (red, but who could complain?) to take with her. It didn't matter that she wasn't sure where she was going. She'd find somewhere easy enough! The island was full of pretty little spots to play, and maybe later she would have a tea party.
Veronica laid out the blanket in a clearing, dusting off her skirt as she stood. Giving a little skip, she started picking flowers. There weren't any daisies on the island that she knew of, but surely hibiscus and orchid would make just as nice a chain? And the colors were so bright! She laid little bundles on the blanket and, once she judged she had enough, she knelt down beside them, diligently focused on the making of chains as she hummed quietly under her breath.
