tide is rising but time is standing still

"Stop that!" Veronica snapped, but she didn't sound particularly irritated. "Hey - stay - calm now -" With a little sigh, she pulled Fiona back onto her lap. She knew the monkey would, by now, stay pretty close by, but it didn't keep her from wanting to keep a close eye on the creature. Jim would about kill her if he came back from his honeymoon to find his monkey was gone.

The day was warm, if cloudy, and Veronica had elected to stretched out on the sand, a few yards from the waves. Her hair was back in a ponytail and down in her eyes -- she was going to have to do something about that sooner or later -- and, in light of the weather, she'd conceded to the whims of the clothes bin and dug out a short denim skirt. With one leg outstretched and the other crossed over it, she leaned back on her hands and let Fiona sit on her stomach.

Life had been pleasant lately, a series of unremarkable days broken up only by the happiness of Jim and Pam getting married. Veronica could have wished for a little more excitement, but the more she thought about it, the more she realized... she was actually content.

For the moment anyway.

"Alright, Fiona," she said, digging out her iPod. "What should we listen to?"

[Yes, she IS babysitting Jim's pet monkey while the Halperts are honeymooning. Please, tag in. Anyone.]
