It was early, but Jim had gotten himself out of bed anyway. With how nice Jane had always been to Pam and he, the decision to take up the job of her usual weekly cooking wasn't a hard one. While she had asked both of them to do it, Jim sort of snuck out without waking Pam up, leaving behind a note that she didn't have to worry about it and to just relax.

He knew she'd read the note and do exactly the opposite, but he hoped by the time she came over he'd have done all the hard stuff.

The kitchen was deserted when he reached it, and he didn't waste any time starting to put together a meal from scratch. Breakfast was the one thing Jim was good at; he had figured out a lot of things to whip up for himself before he had to work. He decided it was high time for some pancakes, and went to work making a couple of batches. Since there was no maple syrup, he spruced the pancakes up by putting fruit in them; some batches had blueberries mixed in, others had strawberries. Jim sort of wished there were bananas, but as Padme had realized, there weren't any left. He also cooked up some thinly sliced pork that he was going to call bacon, even though it didn't taste exactly like it. In case he was the only one that liked his pancakes - he thought they tasted good - he put together a fruit salad too, as well as the usual coffee, black tea, and orange juice out for drinks.

He had been making his final batch of pancakes when Pam came in, still bundled up from the cold. He glanced up to see her with her arms folded across her chest, giving him a look. He smiled innocently, moving to flip a pancake.

"I can't believe you didn't wake me up," she said as she sat down in a seat.

"You looked comfortable," he countered. Looking over at her again, he could see her rolling her eyes at him.

"You're not going to act like this the entire nine months, are you?" she asked.

He didn't answer and instead just started to put out the pancakes he had just finished. He put together a cup of tea for her soon afterwards, walking over to hand it over and kiss the top of her forehead.

"Maybe," he finally admitted, and she snorted at that as she took the tea from him. "So sit back and let me cook, okay? I have it covered."

She eyed him for a moment, then let out a sigh, though the smile on her face proved she was at least a little amused at him. "I'm pregnant, not dying, Jim. I can help without falling over or something, you know."

He just shrugged, going back to cooking. And, despite her protests, Pam just let him do what he wanted to do. After all, he did seem like he had everything covered.

[OOC: Tag them both or separately (but please indicate in the subject line if you don't want them both to tag!), and feel free to overhear the conversation. >> Your meal today is pancakes, bacon, and fruit. Yes, very creative. Tagging will be on and off all day, as one mun has finals and the other is being lazy sleeping.]
