Sometimes Daniel wondered if things would ever get back to normal. Usually, right on the heel of that thought was another. What counted as normal? Was his life before the Stargate program normal? After? Life on the island, was that normal? That he wasn’t always sure worried him, but there wasn’t anything he could do. As long as he kept seeing Adria, as long as he kept hearing her voice, he’d never be normal.
But, occasionally, he had days when he could forget everything that was worrying him. He’d decided that he wanted to watch something, he wasn’t sure what, and Ianto was going out to get more coffee berries. Once Ianto had left, Daniel looked through the stack of film reels that the bookshelf offered. Torchwood, Torchwood, more Torchwood and Stargate. He looked away and tried again. This time, there was nothing but Torchwood.
“You delight in causing me pain, don’t you?” he muttered, trying one more time. Film reels one through thirteen of Torchwood, one called Captain Jack Harkness. He hesitated, thinking that maybe he should wait until Ianto got back, until he remembered watching Cyberwoman with him. He didn’t want Ianto to have to go through that again. Putting the one episode back, Daniel grabbed the others.
He ran in briefly to get something to eat and to get some of the coffee. Ianto’s coffee, he noticed. He poured himself a cup, grabbed whatever pastry was sitting in the kitchen, and headed back into the rec room. He set up the first reel, dimmed the lights, and sat back, preparing himself for…what, he wasn’t yet sure.
(Yes. He’s watching the entirety of Torchwood, minus Cyberwoman. He has no desire to see Ianto go through that again. Feel free to come before, during, or after, just let me know when. If anyone needs reference materials, links are
