At the kitchen island, Vianne was cutting larger chunks of cooked pork into smaller strips, seasoning them with a mixture of pepper and salt. She had spent the greater part of the afternoon making tortillas, burning the edges of a few early attempts for lack of practice, but overall they represented a good effort. Dinner was a bit late, as a result, and she worked as swiftly as she could to make up for it, rice drained in the sink and set out in a bowl, fruit tossed together into a quick salad, and the everpresent bread set out on trays.
She had set out the tea already, and the coffee was brewing in the pot. Enough meat already lay in strips to feed several people, and she considered herself largely caught up to her usual speed at last.
[Summary: Snape vastly prefers tea to moonshine, as it turns out. Not only that, he may have seen a real live GOAT, OMG, the idea of which rather thrills Vianne. However, she does not like to think that animals might be arriving on the island in the same way that people do. Veronica Mars stops in for her first island meal, and she and Vianne discuss the necessities of French cooking and Vianne's gypsy life. Ted turns up in a Most Excellent Way and is found by Snape, who has No Ulterior Motive At All in convincing Ted to move into the compound with Leelo. None. Really. Ted also introduces Bill S. Monkey to Vianne, and there is a minor mixup over the identities of Ted's HUMAN Bill and the island's Bill Weasley.]
