Breakfast at the compound.

Jan 22, 2006 10:22

Susan hadn't slept well, after continuously replaying the previous day's events in her mind. It had taken her forever to fall asleep, and even longer to wake up, putting her very late for preparing the morning's breakfast. There was only time to make one variety of muffins (banana-nut), but between putting batches in the oven she managed to put out a decent amount of fruit (strawberries, oranges, pineapple, bananas, and grapefruit, of which only the pineapple really needed anything done to it), put the kettle on for tea, and start the coffeepot.

When she stopped for a moment to catch her breath, she poured herself a cup of tea. What she really wanted to do was go back to sleep and not to dream of boars with wicked-looking tusks.

[summary: Susan serves breakfast again. Chris Halliwell returns to the kitchen, a little braver than before. Eowyn and Susan meet, and Eowyn and Polly have a long chat. Harry has something on his mind that he wants to confide in Susan but doesn't know how, and he and Chris Halliwell have a little chat. Ron and Susan talk about how he's not supposed to talk about the wizarding world, but when the conversation comes around to siblings, Ron is convinced he knows her from somewhere. Veronica doesn't mind the slightly burned muffins and House seems to not mind the slightly vile coffee. Bridget and Susan reminisce about dairy products and proper English tea, and Susan and Qui-Gon have another long chat over tea about dinosaurs, the peculiarities of age, and matters of faith.]
