Joffrey is dead or very certainly dying. Sansa waits until the noise stops, she does not dignify him with her attention though she hears her name amongst his babble. She watched Joffrey die once and though she wants him dead she has no desire to do so again. She has no time for him caught in shock and panic and Eddara is crying still, shrieking. Eventually he is silent and Sansa moves closer and stares down at him.
Then she bends and scoops up the knife, it was a present from her sister, it's hers. She's not leaving it here with Joffrey. She's going to go home and see if Eddara will calm when she's nursed. Though . . . she has to tell someone about this. Robb, she decides, she will tell Robb. Not Father who forbade them to have anything to do with Joffrey. She is stepping away from the body. Because it is a body now, still and gone and no threat to anyone and Sansa is not sorry. Not sorry at all. If they want to lock her in the compound for this then so be it. Her heart twists when she thinks of Caspian. She won't be allowed to marry him now even if he still wanted her. Yet she would do it again, she knows she would. Joffrey threatened her daughter and even though he is gone Sansa shakes at the thought. Sansa can think of a million reasons Joffrey deserved death but she finds herself trembling all the same despite her resoluteness. She looks away from the body but the blood is everywhere, it's on her and worse it is on Eddara. Eddara has finally stopped shrieking but her whimper is high pitched and new and Sansa stares at her blood spattered baby daughter, caught in the horrifying notion that Joffrey might have injured her daughter. Sansa can feel her stomach turn and she vomits at the base of a tree struggling not to soil Eddara with it.
She feels dizzy afterwards and sits in the snow, as far from Joffrey as she can be and peels Eddara's blanket away to see dark red marks on Eddara's arm, that will bruise Sansa knows filled with horror and she is wrapping Eddara against the cold with murmured apologies when she hears a noise. Someone is coming. Eddara reaches again for the gold and pearl necklace hidden under Sansa's dress and Sansa does not know she is crying until the tears actually splatter on Eddara.
