The only thing that could make this day worse was if Asher's pretty prancing horse decided it needed to take Wednesday for a ride.

She'd woken up with it in her bed, wrapped in her arms like the doll she always wished she had. If it hadn't been for the fact that she'd promptly fallen out of bed, she would've wanted to keep it. Cursed idols - and she would have known what it was even if everyone on the island hadn't already figured it out - were a lot more fun when they were cursing someone else.

It turned out that falling out of bed was the best thing that happened to her all day. After managing to get jam on no less than three separate dresses, the clothing box would give her nothing but lace and frills and pink. In fact, the only thing that Wednesday deemed acceptable to wear - only in the sense that it wasn't missing any pieces and didn't make her look like a little ballerina - was all three.

That was the start of it. She hadn't even made it much past breakfast before she was minding her own business, crossing the rec room, when she tripped over a box that seemed fairly innocuous - other than the fact that it was in the middle of the rec room floor - until it exploded. With glitter. All over her.

That was when Wednesday decided she would be better off outdoors.

There wasn't any glitter outdoors, but there was something that Wednesday didn't count on: butterflies. Dozens of them, fluttering around her, landing on her, trailing after her as she fled down the path. But batting at them with her arms had no effect, and there was nowhere she could run where the butterflies couldn't follow.

There was only one thing Wednesday could do. She needed to get rid of the idol, once and for all.
