Coraline had decided that if she was going to destroy the Mirror Room, then she was going to do it alone. Adam and Cain didn't know a thing about that though, she hadn't wanted to tell them in case they worried. She had given herself a deadline, to get over the anxieties and panic attacks she felt every time she thought about the room and the deadline was up. Once Coraline Jones decided to do something she did it, even if it did scare her.
However, Coraline was rather hampered that morning when she had woken up and answered truthfully about how she slept. The truthfulness continued even when she didn't want it to. Coraline slowly became aware of what had happened to her.
Coraline had been CURSED with the TRUTH.
The first thing Coraline did, on her realisation that she could only speak the truth was to run rather quickly from Adam's Hut. She hadn't told him where she was going, she had simply made her decision and gone before he could ask her. If he asked her, she would have told him and then he would have insisted on coming with her and she didn't want that- she didn't want him to get hurt.
The second thing she did was to set off towards the Compound. Brownies were always prepared and she needed to prepare, if she was to take on the Mirror Room. Coraline walked quickly towards the Compound, constantly checking over her shoulder for people or other mothers.
The third thing Coraline did was to accept her situation and work out how much danger she was in. She didn't think she'd be in any danger from the truth. Well, unless she met the man in the long coat that Cain had warned her about and then she wouldn't be able to lie to him. Then she'd be in danger but Coraline was getting very good at evading things, even the truth.
Coraline turned the corner and saw someone standing between her and the Compound. Coraline considered her options and took her red scarf out of her bag. Tying it around her mouth tightly, an added extra special knot at the back for extra Truth Protection, Coraline breathed deeply and tried to be as inconspicuous as possible. Coraline raised a hand in greeting and hoped they didn't try to stop her.
