Halloween had come and passed and while Anita knew that the Island had turned some of the adults into children it could have been far worse. She had only to recall the past few Halloweens for proof of that.
Not being extremely busy the whole month of October had been one of the changes that she still wasn't completely used to. In fact, it was only with Halloween passing that it had fully sunk in that it was October. It had been nice to actually enjoy the month instead of spend the majority of it so tired that all she could think about was how slow November would be and that unless a case came up she would be able to catch up on her rest. It never happened that way, but at least it did slow down some.
She had run that morning like normal and she had decided that she would take it easy that afternoon which was why she was sitting in the kitchen sipping some coffee and reading a book, which thankfully wasn't about her. She hoped that insane woman never decided to work on another one, but she figured that her luck just wasn't going to cooperate with that.
The book wasn't engrossing, in fact it was barely interesting, but at least it was passing the time and allowing her to relax.
