After seeing Hal disappear and talking with Susan the day before, Niko had pretty much decided that the missing people were still on the island. Too many at once to be random disappearances and given what had happened with the body switching, apparently not all that uncommon. Even the rain was an aberration from normal island weather, after all, and to borrow phrasing from Cal, maybe the island just wanted to fuck with them. Maybe they had all gotten a little too complacent.
That idea firmly in place, Niko walked back to the Compound with the intention of organizing a search party. There were many capable people on the island, albeit not necessarily capable in the way that he and Cal were, and if they worked together they could do a systematic search of all regions of the island and not those deemed safe for normal, every day travel. There was a whole side, after all, beyond the last IPD post that Niko had heard housed dinosaurs. If the missing were there, they might need a helping hand.
The kitchen was the best place to start looking for people; gathering places always seemed to revolve around food or drink, even in the ancient eras. This should be no different.
