cast list for the mousetrap

Nov 09, 2010 00:00

The play would need rewrites to accommodate some cast members' age, not to mention their place of origin -- the language sounded far too stilted in an American accent -- but all in all, Jamie was pleased with his selections, perhaps more so because he'd endeavored to make the decisions entirely on his own. He'd spent the days following the audition poring over his notes, trying to envision different people in different roles, experimenting with each and every permutation until, finally, he'd come up with a choice that satisfied his purposes. It was an interesting mix, or so he thought, and though a few of the roles would likely cause a raised eyebrow or two, he had his reasons for all of them. If the exercise kept him from obsessing about other things -- Moira and Theresa and how a part of him felt sure that everyone he knew was going to leave him in one way or another -- it also kept him from spending his nights at one of the Island's many bars. Maybe he'd gone the drunken suicidal route before, but he'd be damned to say it wasn't still just the slightest bit tempting to explore a second time.

At that moment, however, Jamie was resolutely thinking of nothing except getting the cast list up in a timely manner -- he'd promised that it'd be up by the ninth of November, and so it would be. With Richards at his heels, he stood in front of the bulletin board, pulling down his notice for the auditions to replace it with another, smaller poster that read:
