Veronica Mars never let go of clues. She picked up the details she could find and searched until she uncovered the rest. She thought it through and she came to the solution. But, now and then, there were things that didn't bear thinking of, extraneous details that caused too much pain to explore, that might help her case but almost certainly wouldn't. They didn't disappear from her mind. They just hid in the back, waiting until circumstance or necessity forced them on her. Until then, she simply did not think about them if she could help it. Things were hard enough without spending hours on pointless, painful introspection, and she had never been one to wallow.
There were a few things at the back of her mind now, and she was determined not to think of them. Instead, she wandered into the rec room, exploring the bookshelf with a kind of intensity that didn't often come from Veronica in regards to books not when there were other things that needed doing. But there had to be something here that could take her mind off of the need to keep her mind off of Things. She glanced away, eyes exploring the room for a game to play, a distraction of any kind. Too bad she didn't know how to play the piano.
But there were records, at least. Kneeling by the bookshelf of records, she began looking through them, laying aside ones she wanted to try until she came across one that insisted on being played at once. Glancing around yet again to make sure no one was nearby, she placed the record on the player, sliding the needle into place for just one song. Veronica settled back down to sort through the records again and, figuring that it would only be mildly embarassing and only if she were caught, quietly sang along. "All the leaves are brown and the sky is grey. / I've been for a walk on a winter's day. / I'd be safe and warm if I was in L.A. / California dreamin' . . ."
[Open to anyone.]
[Summary: Veronica escapes a number of bothersome thoughts by sitting in the rec room with the record player. She's indulging in homesickness even so when Padmé finds her. Veronica recognizes Padmé's canon, but doesn't say anything 'cause that didn't go over so well with Hermione, and it looks like the two girls have found a much needed friendship. Elliot bounces in singing and they talk about their respective careers and how Not Glamourous they actually are. And she makes small snark with Jim over Scrabble, surfing, coconut bowling, and Rilo Kiley, relieved to find someone from her world and time.]
