[Dias hadn't been expecting the package, really; he hasn't heard much about the regain system in Mayfield yet, given how little he gets around. So he opens it innocently enough, to find...severed fingers.

His usual lineface becomes slightly more disapproving.

But then suddenly the fingers aren't there anymore, and he finds himself with a more ( Read more... )

[chaos watches for a few moments, before ever bothering to comment.]

You're a good swordsman.

[Dias doesn't actually stop going through his movements, although he does glance briefly over at Chaos.] I've put too much time and effort into it not to be.

So you've been practicing a very long time, then?

[Happens by and watches him practice, waiting until there is a lull in his rigorous routine to interrupt him with a gentle greeting.] Good afternoon, Dias!

[Dias glances over and, when he sees who it is, puts his exercises on hold after going through the last movement he was doing. Not everyone gets that consideration from him.] Garnet. Looks like you got your arm back.

[Garnet approaches Dias with a smile, bowing her head when he greets her. It brings her such relief to know that his fingers have been replaced.] And I see that your hand has healed, that's wonderful. [A thoughtful pause.] Please, don't allow me to interrupt your practicing.

I don't mind. It's good to make sure I'm not getting rusty, but it's nothing like fighting against a real opponent.

[Dias flexes the fingers of his healed hand briefly before glancing at her.] Thanks again for helping with this the other day.

[Dias glances over his shoulder, but he's not about to break routine for a stranger making an idle comment. He keeps going, although he does offer a question in return.] What?

Hmph. Are you a swordsman, or do you just critique them in your spare time?

[Celes watches him from the porch steps, twisting her hair around and around until the heavy mass is pulled away from her face in a massive bun. For now, she appears perfectly content to watch Dias practice.]

You may want to bend your arm a bit. It will cushion the shock from a parry.

[Dias snorts slightly without breaking his concentration; there's no hitch in his movements.] I'm not parrying right now, am I? That isn't the point.

[She always was a sucker for uninterrupted movement. She shakes her head slightly to clear it before responding.]

I said "a parry", not "your parry", Dias. [She sounds amused, and rests her cheek in one hand.]

You should know that these movements aren't the same as what I'd use in combat.
