My best friend drops me a call at 3 AM, and he's called me once or twice before pointlessly. I wonder just what precisely happened, and listening to it it sounds like it's important. So it turns out, his mother just died in a car crash

Some cosmic power thinks it's amusing to make people miserable. It reminds me of the time that my friend almost went blind and I missed his phonecall when he really needed someone to support him and talk him through it.
