FFN vs. A2O3?

Hey, guys.  So, many of you know that when I first started writing/posting fanfiction, I started out on FanFiction.Net.  To me, it's one of the most user-friendly sites for both reading and posting fanfic.  I was later lured over to LJ because of nominations for "Chlollie Awards" (which still makes me smile when I think about that btw.).  For a ( Read more... )

FFN(affectionately called 'the pit' by some of my co-horts) has recently become a pain in the ass for many reasons. They had a rash of plagiarism something like 150 stories out of the HP fandom were posted on an archive site called watpad without any of the actual authors permissions. What FFN did to combat this was change the site coding making it where you can't copy paste anything anymore.

In the case of Ao3, some of the main things I've heard about it and gleaned myself is Ao3 is a haven to writers who feel they can't get as graphic as they'd like because of FFN's guidelines. Though the seaching/ tag filters are different than FFN, but once you catch on it gets easier. You're more likely to find a quality read there then you are on FFN depending on fandom. It never hurts to give it a try. The only thing that might be disappointing about it is reader reviews are probably less because of the fact the site is smaller.

Hopefully somewhere in my mess I was able to give you some answers.

Oh Blue a lot of writers have this problem on FF.N. It can get so bad that writers just stop writing. Why the site doesn't do more to helping protect the writers rather then censor them I just don't know?
Wherever you go I'll follow though. So you won't lose this fan!!!

I took most of my stories off of FFN awhile back, due to censorship issues. Apparently, there is a group of elitist bullies over there that harass anyone who posts "mature" content. I never experienced it first hand, but I wasn't going to wait. I removed all of my NC-17 fics. I've moved everything over to AO3.
