video games are awesome. they pay tons and are very cathartic. my favourite part is the battle sequences.

I was happy to play you all the way through Oni. And it's rare when I finish a game.

I got that same audition, but didn't get the gig. Kudos on landing it! It sounds like fun.

The James Bond game I got, I'm informed, should pay really nicely. My understanding is that 99% of gaming VO work is done in-studio; when it is done remotely, a full ISDN session is usually required. YMMV.

I'm not entirely sure how well video game work scales compared to other media, but I will say that the people I've worked with on some of Atlus's recording sessions seemed fairly happy. @.@

Interestingly, if you can get sustainable work from home, you might want to see if your clientele will take your work via mp3 instead of phone patching. However, if you can do a deal where your long distance costs aren't going to kill you, then it's worth your while, I think.

I did all my stuff for Levon on Axis and Allies without a phone patch and the same with Captain Capitalism. Another live alternative is SourceConnect, but I think that only hooks up to ProTools. If you have it, great, of course. When I build my next box, I'll probably dedicate my laptop to it and turn the hyperthreading off so PT doesn't gack all over itself. Or maybe my next box will be a Mac and I'll finally rid myself of having to turn nice features on my PCs off. =)

Anywho, rock on with that.

Yeah, I have been doing all my home work recording, and then dumping it to up to FTP. Works great.

This time, they wanted to have a someone from somewhere else listen in at the same time.
