I have been catching "The Writer's Almanac" on the local public radio station.  Garrison Keilor of Lake Woebegon fame is the host.

Indeed... I thought it was a strange compliment at first.

And I'm like, Oh yeah... making a friend of an engineer aint a bad thing after all. For they too go on to direct sometimes.

< keillor > We got our first Negroes in Lake Woebegone today. A couple of strapping young bucks, rented old Majorie Norgay's apartment up on Eighth Street. Majorie always was a little funny. Sunday, me and Sven and some of the fellows from the fire department got together and had a few beers, and we sort of decided that, well, we liked the town the way it was. After that we had a few more beers and then drove over to Eighth Street, and, well, we sort of invited those colored boys to check out the scenery up in Brainerd. After we loaded 'em on the bus, old Sven gave the driver a twenty to give them when they woke up... sort of a parting gift, I suppose. And we all felt pretty good about Sven after that. He's just nice that way.

And that's the news from Lake Woebegone, where all the men are liberal, all the women are bisexual, and all the kids are white. < /keillor >
