I've been considering changing doctors.  If it were Timothy it would be only a minor inconvenience, but it's a somewhat life disrupting event.

Cue disgruntlement. )

The best doctor in the world is the same as the crappiest doctor in the world if you can't get in to see her. I know it's difficult to find and train (!) a new doctor for your needs, but sometimes it's what you've gotta do.
I hope the office manager / staff come to see the light before you have to do that.

I know what you are going through. I had a similar problem a couple of years ago and ended up going to a different medical group.

The new doctor can be reached by email and she nearly always responds the same day. It's not perfect, but it is a radical improvement.

I can request prescription renewals through email as well.

I spoke with the office manager and we may have come up with a solution. It still strikes me as weird, however. If I can't get an appointment for the day I need it I need to call the office manager directly and she'll speak with my doctor to fit me in.

In the meantime she's putting a note in my file that I'm a high-priority case and need to be seen when I call in.

Wouldn't you think they'd have a system in place for people who have a more urgent need to medical access?

Anyway, we'll give this a try and see if it works out. I don't want to lose the doctor if it's just a case of getting the office to handle my case properly we could have a win.
