Families and drama

So, as I mentioned, we had a perfectly marvelous time on vacation.  But aparently my larger than life sister in law did not.  She feels that she offended Kirk in some way and had been the butt of his jokes for much of the week.

This came as a total shock to me when I recieved the phone call from my brother last night.  Checking with Kirk I informed

Honestly, from the description of the conversation it sounds like she has often been treated poorly in her life, probably because of treating others poorly, and so has been conditioned to expect it. Until and unless she learns to get over it and treat others with kindness she will probably always perceive people mistreating her, even where no such thing is intended, and when she lashes out at the imagined slight many people will, in fact, mistreat her in response. Such patterns are sad for everyone who has any part in it, be it participant or observer.
