On kidneys and dressing up

I find that it's getting longer and longer between posting, something I need to work on. I guess that I feel I have nothing to talk about. It probably has absolutely nothing to do with only getting single days off rather than two days adjacent to each other. ;) This week I'm off Thursday and Friday, next week it's Monday and Thursday.

Today I found out that I have a cousin that seems to be developing kidney problems, but I have no details beyond that. Her family doctor needed more information on my condition so her mother called my mother and they discussed my medical history.

We have always thought that there was an underlying immune disorder on that side of the family that didn't present itself until something triggered it. Pure speculation, of course, but my immune disorder was triggered by strep throat, the strep then transitioned into an auto immune disorder that attacked my kidneys.

Changing tacks, I find that I'm feeling more feminine lately. I've never been a "girly-girl" but have always felt good if I looked good. Don't get me wrong, I schlub about in my jammies or sweats but I also have been slipping on a dress and heels more in the past months as well. I think what triggered it was a find in an antique store.

We were getting out and just digging around in an antique mall when I found a hat. This hat was from the '40's or so. I found it and had to try it on, it looked lovely. Since then I've been pairing it up with outfits when on my day off.

Fast forward to last week. I was poking about looking for a formal dress to wear to a wedding in January. I found a lovely '40's party frock in a dusty emerald green, it was paired with another hat. The dress was a touch tight but had enough fabric in the seams to let out and it was reasonably priced. Needless to say, I got it. :) And the hat. :) :)

Who says you outgrow the desire to dress up when you get older?!?!?!??!!! I find it's great fun.
