"Well maybe if you stopped being so damned gorgeous, I'd stop saying it."
I wanna hug America, corny lines or not~
"Patient's something I'm really not--" his breath is hot and quiet against Russia's ear. "But I can't give up on you if I try, beautiful." His lips touched the hollow at the base of Russia's skull.
"I won’t make it easy," Russia breathed. "You know that."
I feel like the years ahead of them are going to be much easier if they can just remember what they said to each other these past few chapters.

America invented corny. XD

I really hope they can.

Oh, definitely. And even thought they both have conveniently faulty memories when it comes to stuff like this, I think that some of this may still burrow into their subconscious yet. So they may not act like they know it in the future. But they just might.

This chapter is kind of what I've been secretly begging for since... the twenties. I mean YES. Smooching and gun kink and GRRRR I HATE YOU is awesome. I love it. But this is the chat had to happen SO. MUCH. D': I was scared it would happen in a... dark, sort of deathy, "We're gonna die so Imma tell you I totally loved you since forever." kind of way. (With these two seemed like that's what it would've taken.) OH NOES, here it is, in a warm room, with a fire and sweaters and blankets and weather and and ....and... Excuse me while I curl into a ball of joy in the next room.
Nothing but love to the both of you forever. :'3

XDDD This was our EXACT REACTION when we were writing that bit. We were like "America! You've been thinking! ...I don't know what to make of this! Are you feeling okay?"

The boys surprise us too, sometimes. XD There's dark'n'deathy chapters penciled in for the future, but they can occasionally make progress even when there isn't nuclear war on the line. XD

and way to make ME grin like an ass, America ♥ I imagine him saying the pledge is like a prayer other people say to keep their cool and whatnot. All he's missing is redwhitenblue rosary beads.

He TOTALLY DOES! What's the word for that? Civil religion? Civil religion is a big deal in America! XD He probably has a little American flag keychain that he plays with compulsively instead of the rosary.

IT FEELS SO GOOD WHEN THEY FINALLY GET IT RIGHT
:D
Just....EEEEE, such a warm, happy chapter. It might be my favorite.
Oh America. Don't ever stop telling Russia he's gorgeous.

JESUS CHRIST, IT TOOK THEM LONG ENOUGH. XD

He won't. But it's like running up against a brick wall sometimes.
America: "I find you screamingly attractive."
Russia: "DOES NOT COMPUTE."

I KNOW, RIGHT? GOD, GUYS, YOU COULD DO IT A LITTLE MORE OFTEN.
It might be my favorite.
I'm pretty sure it's one of mine. ♥ I love guns and angst and craziness, but on the whole, I like it best when they are happy. Anyway, angst is meaningless if it's all you ever get!
Every time America tells Russia he's beautiful, I kind of want to give America a hug. That's a good thing you're doing, kid. ♥

OMG kid, you finally solve the mystery that is Russia.
Because Russia never says what he wants (god knows if he even knows what he wants), and America knows what he wants and says it too many times that it almost sounds insincere?
They are going to be okay now right? Not "okay" okay, but as long as they remembered what they have said and done in these two chapters, as long as they know that even if America and Russia are at odds, Alfred and Ivan can still care for each other, they are probably going to be okay.
Too bad they are countries, otherwise they should totally just run off to Vegas RIGHT NOW!
