They stood twenty paces apart, guns out, aimed between each other's eyes, their feet square on the damp asphalt. )

I loved it. Russia being all "Oh, that was not my decision ! It's Prussia's!" while keeping his gun aimed at America was nice and, well, so Russia. I liked the way they're still kids playing with way too much dangerous weapons and the "I remember when we were first getting to know each other, I thought you were so old and--and impressive..." just did it.
They just can't put their shit aside, can they ?

It's kind of terrifying, isn't it? I mean, Russia is an old nation, yeah, but he didn't 'grow-up' until the mid-1700s, really, and become a modern and powerful state. (Actually, according to our canon, there was a 20-30 year span there when America and Russia were almost the same age.) And being a superpower is very new to both of them. And on top of all that--nobody has ever had the kind of power these two have at their disposal, now. I think that'd make anybody feel shaky and inexperienced.

I agree. They did not called this MAD for nothing. And...
The cuban missile crisis is next, right ? (We'll finally understand why Cuba hates America so much! Yeah!)

Russia was drawing himself up again, hand over hand up some dark internal pillar, and America thought maybe he might give a different answer now if somebody asked him if he was afraid. "I mean, I've always wanted to touch them," he pleaded. "And I never, ever would, without your permission, but--okay?
That part really got to me... having something on your body that serves as a permanent tie to trauma is enough, but having someone tell you that they think they're beautiful - it would only help to destroy your senses. Poor Russia...

Russia is such a mess when it comes to his scars. And you know, I think this is the first time America's ever said anything about them.
