Rarely in world history has one actual historical nation wanted to bone another nation so badly.I think this is the best and most perfect description of the British Invasion ever XD And I have to agree, England while high is very hot XD ( ... )

While we were writing this, we were both talking about how much we'd love to smoke a joint with England. He'd be so chill. XD

It's nice to see USUK where they're comfortable with each other and just enjoying being together and touching each other and having sex without it devolving into epic historical angst, but them still having the history there.

Yes, definitely! =D This is something they want and they feel good about it, and their friendship is strong enough now that it can weather some choppy waters. But at the same time...it's not easy, for either of them. They're uncovering a lot of baggage they both thought they'd buried.

It felt really natural for them and not exactly sweet, but really nice to see that they do accept that there are parts of them which belong to other people.

I really like that part, too. ♥ It's something good friends can do, you know?

And on a more shallow but no less enthusiastic note, really really hot sex :D

Eyyy. XD

Yeah, I can definitely see that. I've seen so many times in USUK fic, the history between them is sledgehammered in; overt references to the Revolutionary War and the bad blood between them, whereas its so refreshing here where they know it's there, and it kind of stings, but they're in a place where they're good enough friends that they can uncover that without it causing huge emotional breakdown. The way its understated here, the little pauses and hitches, seems much more realistic.

And yeah, their friendship here is honestly more appealing than their 'relationship', hot though it is XD

Thank you, that's really nice to hear. =D

I think they would agree. There's this little feeling between them now of...well, they're not sorry it happened, it's nice that it happened! It was something they'd been wanting for a while. And no doubt they'll continue intermittently hooking up over the next couple of years, but...they would probably both appreciate an opportunity to say "you know what, let's just...back up a tick" when it wouldn't cause any hurt feelings.

Where has the mental image of America and England smoking pot been all my life?! These two are great when high (although I got a little lost..).

Lost? D= Oh...from some of the references? Eep. ^_^; We really do try and make every chapter something that can be enjoyed on its own, but at a certain point, you know, it gets hard to not make callbacks to things that happened in previous chapters. I hope you were able to enjoy this part anyway!

Well, I got a little confused about who was doing what to whom at times, but I guess that's because they were high.

(And I may have been listening to Einsamkeit at the time... Well, the song doesn't matter, because I can't think and listen to music with lyrics at the same time, it seems.)

I think I read something about America's cigarette burns before... Did that happen before or after this?

Russia gave America a cigarette burn on the side of his neck in chapter 54 of TCE? If anyone else has written about America having cigarette burns before, we don't know about it, so I can't help you there.

Bittersweet. Bu I liked it! You kinda just eased into the US?IK pairing which was nice~

Seriously, I was reading this and I kept forgetting Al was high... I couldn't really spot a difference. Especially the whole part where he wanted to make out with an album... That actually seemed like the sort of thing he would do...

The bittersweet is working as intended. ♥ There are reasons why we don't ship America and England romantically in any kind of serious way; to us, and so, in TCE, it feels like...I don't know, their friendship is very easy and natural, but their romantic relationship...doesn't quite fit right, and comes with a lot of baggage. I think they're both realizing that.

Seriously, I was reading this and I kept forgetting Al was high...

I don't think either of them were very high, either....or else we would have had people thinking they only hooked up because they were on drugs. -_o
