France may be a complete and utter prick at times, but you've got to grant that he's an insightful prick!

Gah, those two. No matter how many times you see them argue in fics it never gets boring.

France's gaze trembled, once, inside of England's, but he didn't look away. "Is it--so extraordinary that, after all this time, I might be tired of watching you make yourself miserable?"
TAT It's sad how much he still cares.

I also enjoyed England's comment about how he could bash France's head in tastefully.

Lovely chapter as always. &hearts

I feel as though France has learned to care, as opposed to still caring, you know? The two of them have...softened towards one another in the last century, though they'd die before they came right out and admitted it.

I think it's likely they've both cared for longer than they would care to admit to themselves, but France at least was not remotely aware of caring until WW2. XD

Ah, FrUK, I love it so much...especially the way you write France. The way you write him is...not two-faced, exactly, but different parts of his personality come out with every chapter!

France withdrawing from NATO is just about the most French thing France ever did. "Oh, England, America, this special relationship of yours? Well. Clearly I am a third wheel, you two don't know what you're doing, excuse me while I go to be awesome with people who appreciate me, because I'm FRANCE." I was really hoping you would write about this! Even though I enjoyed France and England's parley immensely, the whole chapter I had this aching feeling like, "Oh no, you two, you don't know what you're doing to each other..." AND THEN: --Something had just slipped through his fingers, England knew. He could feel where it had been. THIS HAPPENED. ;_;

I am glad that England is fully aware that he and America do not love each other, though. But England, do you ever learn?
Wonderful chapter as usual! <3

France is just about the most multi-faceted person you could ever meet, and he takes great pleasure in it.

Even though I enjoyed France and England's parley immensely, the whole chapter I had this aching feeling like, "Oh no, you two, you don't know what you're doing to each other..."

They've been volleying insults back and forth for so long that most of them just bounce off, now. But in that time they've gotten to know one another as well as they known themselves, and learned which words, exactly, can make it through the cracks. They have such an effect on one another, and I don't think they're even aware of how much.

The way that you guys played out this conversation between these two was absolutely brilliant. There was just such a heavy weight between the two and I love how you showed that through their actions and subtext. The descriptions like "dust" and "bullets" were a perfect addition to this scene and I'm just in awe at how you guys played out this scene perfectly.

The FrUK dynamic can be a delicate thing in my opinion and is really hard to get just right (especially because they always teeter back and forth between repressing and expressing their feelings) and you guys keep showing wonderful examples of how to do it well.

Oh England and France, they care so much about each other and yet never quite get voicing it (or admitting it). It makes my heart ache (but in a good way somehow because we love them, of course).

Wonderful job, I definitely need to read more of TCE.

I feel like the vast majority of their communication is non-verbal. Which is...kinda weird, for someone who loves language as much as England, and someone as loquacious as France.

Oh God, I absolutely agree. But I'm so glad that you feel like we stepped up to the plate, here! =D

I definitely need to read more of TCE.

We'd love to see you around! I don't know of you want to go back to the beginning, but if you do-- here, have an Index!

Yeah, it is kind of weird, especially when you put it that way, but at the same time it makes it all the more interesting.

Thanks for the link! I look forward to the next entry you guys post and until then I can keep myself busy by catching up!

Why is it that I feel that Russia/America could learn a lot from France/England--IF those two would figure it out first. *grin*

I'm a new Hetalia fan and have been guzzling TCE even though I wouldn't have said that I was drawn in by the pairings. It was how you craftily used history to manage events and then everything else made absolute sense. I love this!

much enjoyed. thank you. (especially for France!)

Yeah...Just because France and England aren't bringing the world to the brink of nuclear annihilation doesn't mean they're not a trainwreck. XD

Oh, thank you so much! While TCE is primarily a shipping fic, we do hope that it's at least accessible and entertaining to people who aren't especially intrigued by Russia/America.
