I remember the first time I watched this movie in theatre right after the relase; I wondered why this good-looking blonde beaten up guy didn't play the main role. I even googled him but never followed this path any further. But when I finally get hooked into CKR fandom years later this first attention returned to my mind. Damn, I could have been a fan since 2000! LOL
Lovely, informative, detailed post. Thank you. I saw Momento looong before I really pinged on CKR, so it'll be interesting to go back and rewatch it with CKR in mind.
Thank you so much! :) Yes, Memento is definitely a movie that's good for rewatching (and each time you might discover a new angle to the whole thing). Plus, pretty Callum!
Keywords: [...] reference to Pocahontas Oh, IMDB people. You will never cease to amaze and amuse me.
According to Natalie's note, Dodd is 6'2'' tall. Ha! He's 6'2" in Harper's Island too. And in The Commish. Must be his mugshot dimensions. *g*
nurtured by gray-suited greedheads Greedheads? Is that a WORD? *loves*
The slight possibility that, in a few more weeks, "Memento" could be taking in more in absolute dollars (rather than per-screen dollars) than "Pearl Harbor," despite the full force of the much-vaunted Disney promotional machine, is enough to make one cackle. He REALLY hates Hollywood, heh!
Rennie had once before played a drug dealer, in John Dahl's "Unforgettable". Tsk. He hadn't, actually. That was a wrong credit on IMDB for years. He was just a pissed-off car driver.
We shot him, though, to look more imposing. Well. That might explain the 6'2". *g*
Though the Callum quotient in this movie is quite small (he is a bad guy again here, but also very pretty), it's strongly recommended nonetheless. There ARE good movies out
( ... )
:D This Andy Klein dude is pretty awesome. Love his article. And I remember he was the first person online who came up with a decent interpretation of Memento.
Thanks! ♥ I was completely obsessed with this movie when it came out. And I still kinda am.
Re: keywords, glad we can find lists of movies featuring obscene finger gestures or referenced to Pocahontas!
I like the quote about the room renting - I liked it in the movie too...
We didn't want to go with anybody wo looked too obviously like a heavy. We shot him, though, to look more imposing. That's completely Callum - doesn't look like an obvious heavy, but can be imposing! (got me thinking of Harper's Island)
“I didn’t understand it when I read it… or when I saw it. But I tell everyone it’s a great movie.” I could say the same... Reading Andy Klein's articles, and now your chronological plot overview do help - yours has the advantage of being way shorter! Will definitely rewatch with that in mind.
Guy Pearce starred in L.A. Confidential and The Time Machine.
And Neighbours! Boy did he star in Neighbours (actually, there appear to be very few Australian actors in the US who didn't appear in Neighbours at one stage.
I love this movie - It's such a mind fuck - but I saw it so long ago I don't remember Callum's part at all. I think a re-watch is in order.

Same here! :D Though I think Guy Pearce did a great job, I still wonder what Callum would have done with this part. Ah, well.
And thanks!
