Pulling off his boots, Horatio smiled to find both Ray and the infant asleep in the rocking chair. He shuffled forward on stockinged feet, lifting Edward with great care into his own arms and tucking him neatly into his blankets in the crib.
He returned to Ray's side after, kneeling to curl his palm to Ray's cheek. "Ray," he said softly. "Let's get you into a real bed, hmm?"

"Jesus, wh--" He paused in the middle of jumping out of his damn seat when he realized Horatio was right there. He settled back, heart pounding. "Fuck me, Horatio, I thought I'd dropped him or something."
He leaned forward, resting his forehead against Horatio's. "I swear I just had a heart attack," he said, kissing at Horatio's mouth.
