[ It was another routine day for them on the island. Wake up, eat breakfast, do their regular morning activities, and then spend a few hours searching for Kairi. Most people would have given up by now. But the pair were used to the girl disappearing for long intervals of time, and they simply assumed it was another instance of that ( Read more... )

Hey, quit that.

[on any other day, he'd make more of an effort to stop Riku, maybe mention how he's definitely gotten taller over the years and that he had no right to do that anymore since they were both older now-god, were they really almost twenty?]

[right now, though, he's just letting it go. a little nostalgia is what he needs.]

Sure.

[ He smiles softly at the reaction, and turns to lead the way to the beach. He slides his hands into his pocket; having them fumbling at his sides was the last thing he wanted. ]

[ It was a bit of a walk to the nearest shoreline, but that didn't matter right now. Occasionally he'll glance behind him to see how close behind Sora was. ]

[there's about a foot-long gap between them, if even that much. Sora's walking along with his hands behind his head, all sorts of thoughts running through his head-most of them about Kairi, of course. when was the last time he'd even thought about things this hard?]

[whenever they get there, he'll probably bump into Riku, having gotten too caught up in his memories to pay much attention to where he's going.]

-Sorry. I didn't notice we were already here.

Got your head in the clouds, huh?

[ He chuckles, lightly, before shifting his attention to the ocean before them. This beach was more secluded than the others-- there were no sounds of the other islanders that reached them. Only the distant chatter of animals, and the waves brushing at their shoes. ]

Remember how we used to hold hands, and fall asleep on the sand? We'd wake up with really bad sunburns, and our parents wouldn't stop scolding us about it each time.

I guess so.

[he follows suit, smiling all the while. the way Riku said it made it sound like such a long time ago-...wait, it really was a long time ago at this point, wasn't it? time really did fly by without them noticing, he guesses. those were simpler times. why couldn't they have that again?]

Oh, like I could forget the time you guys buried me near the shore when I was asleep and I freaked out when the tide came in!

[he laughs again, and feeling the slightest bit tired after their excursion, he plops down onto the sand, resting on his haunches.]
