Happy Valentine's Day, Dangerous Davies!
For the Valentine's Day challenge, from 'The Last Detective'. For those who haven't seen the show, Peter Davison plays 'Dangerous' Davies, called so because, well, he's not. Mod is his friend and roommate. Julie is Davies' wife. They are separated, not by his choice. He spends a lot of time pining after her. Lucky woman.

What did he really want to tell her?
'Let Me Say It With A Kiss'... no.
'I love you'... well, yes, but, no.
".. just not that into you," said Mod out of the blue.
'Dangerous' Davies startled and hastily put away the Valentine card he'd just selected. "She did marry me, after all." The card caught the edge of the bin and spun off onto the floor.
"What? No, this book: 'He's Just Not That Into You.' Do you think it could be reverse engineered? You know, figure out what women think they want by how they act when they can't get it?" Mod's puppy-dog eyes were misty with hope. Then he saw the card. "What, 'Thinking of You On Valentine's Day'? That'll never work. If Julie doesn't know you're thinking of her, every day, by now, she's a bit thick."
Dangerous frowned and squatted down to pick up the card. When he stood up, Mod handed him the book. "You know, you ate all the jam and haven't bought more yet."
Dangerous rolled his eyes, but without protest paid for the book, and with an air of slight defiance, the card.
"Is that for your mum?" the woman at the register asked. "That's so sweet."
She handed Dangerous the shopping bag, and he immediately fished out the book and offered it to Mod. "I'm not carrying your book."
Mod refused to take it. "You need, 'He's Just Not That Into You' more than I do, Dangerous. Happy Valentine's Day."
"Thank you, Mod," Dangerous said, employing well-practiced forbearance. He turned to go out, followed by his friend.
Behind them, the cashier said to the next customer, "They're everywhere now, aren't they? A girl just doesn't have a chance any more."
Mod giggled all the way into the car park.
