I've always thought that celebrating a person’s life after they die was far more powerful and therapeutic. A celebration of ones life leaves me remembering the person in the way, I’m sure, they would rather be remembered, not stuffed in a casket looking pasty and painted. Of course Death is sad and everyone mourns in his or her own way. It’s an awful thing and I’m sorry for you and your family’s loss. :)

in my experience no matter how prepared for death you are it always comes as a profound shock. it's just one of those things you always expect to happen to everyone else, but not anyone you're close to. i look back and am a little shocked when i realise just how i used to think that everyone i knew was in some untouchable bubble or something.

i hate that feeling.
sorry for your loss.
