Electrowerkz - Central London Urban Paintball Site

The Site

Electrowerkz is a multi-level indoor paintball site covering 20,000 square feet of unique urban terrain. The building is comprised of three floors of corridors, stairwells and bunkers, all linked to a central courtyard. We play a variety of team and individual games over three hours. Electrowerkz has had over 15 years of experience in this field of entertainment, and we provide a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, with confident and capable staff ready to make each session safe and enjoyable for all involved. Being an indoor site provides us with the advantage of being able to have sessions in all weathers, during the evening or day. We are in central London, two minutes from the Angel Underground and various bus routes.

Each player is equipped with full camo-clothing and mask, a semi-automatic paint gun and 20 shots of paint upon arrival. Our paint pellets are non-toxic and biodegradable. Women are provided with upper body protection. Players are expected to bring their own suitable footwear. The teams are assigned to a fully trained Marshall who guides them through each of the games rules and ensures that the games are played fairly and safely. The Marshalls are present at all times, both on site and in our video lounge, to answer any questions and deal with any problems that may arise.

Once the players have changed into the camo-clothing and been assigned to their teams, they will be shown a short video of the safety rules of the site before being given full instructions on how to use their guns. The video lounge is the safe area for players to relax in between games. Tea, coffee, water and biscuits are provided, and a fully licensed bar and catering are available on request. Breaks are given in between all of the games, to get a drink, more ammo and recover before going out on site again. We show films in the video lounge/dead zone for those players who unfortunately have to spend time in there during games.

The Games

The session always starts with two warm-up games of ‘Speedball’. This is a fast-paced, adrenalin fuelled team game, which is based on the basic ‘Capture the Flag’ game. It all takes place on one large room covering the length of the building, with plenty of props and barrels to hide behind. The teams are placed at either end of the room beside their flag, and are then given 10 minutes to capture the opposition’s flag and bring it back to their own end of the room. This is a great introduction to the game for new players and gets them used to shooting and being shot! It also allows the teams to gel very quickly and the Marshalls provide plenty of vocal encouragement to warm everybody up.

After a quick break to get ammo and clean up, the next game is a ‘Flag’ game played throughout the whole building, where the teams have to first find the opposition’s base-camp before capturing the flag and getting it back to their own base-camp. This requires a full team effort by all players to use stealth and skill to hunt down the opposition and guard their own flag at the same time. The ‘Flag’ game can take up to an hour to complete and players who are shot have to spend ten minutes out of the game in the video lounge.

Next, each player gets the chance to prove his or her skill in a one-on-one situation in our ‘Wild West’ game. Two players shoot it out to the death in our main courtyard, cheered on by their teams and refereed by a Marshall. We have recently introduced this game and have found it to be extremely popular, as it gives all the players the opportunity to display their talents. It is also lots of fun to watch for both Marshalls and players alike! This does count as a team game, however - the team with the most kills wins.

Our ‘Box’ game continues to be one of the highlights of the session. It is one of our longer games, but unlike the ‘Flag’ game, there is a time limit and the aim of the game is very different. We cannot give too many details here because it may spoil the game on the day.

To finish up the session we play two short games. The first is a hide and seek game, with the pack hunting 2 to 4 individuals who are given a head start to hide around the building. This one proves very popular with corporate games - a chance to get back at the boss. Our final game is truly individual, where there are no teams and everyone battles it out in the courtyard until the last player standing.
